The Upper Peninsula Center for Educational Development (UPCED) is jointly supported by Northern Michigan University, Michigan Technological University, Lake Superior State University, and the seven Intermediate School Districts of Michigan's Upper Peninsula - Copper Country ISD, Delta-Schoolcraft ISD, Dickinson-Iron ISD, Eastern Upper Peninsula ISD, Gogebic-Ontonagon ISD, Marquette-Alger RESA, and Menominee County ISD. The purpose of UPCED is to provide leadership and facilitate the collaborative education endeavors that impact on student achievement and citizenship for students in the K-12 system in our region. The UPCED also promotes excellence in teaching by working with area teachers in area associated with professional development. Northern Michigan University oversees the fiduciary responsibilities of the center. As of fall 2008, day-to-day operations are now coordinated by the Marquette-Alger RESA. |
